Barrington Dental Implants
It only takes one missing tooth to negatively impact your confidence, self esteem and keep you from smiling. Missing teeth can also affect your speech and even your ability to chew properly. Tooth loss can also cause the surrounding teeth to move, creating an unbalanced bite that may lead to problems like jawbone loss, TMJ disorder, and headaches.
Despite their strength and resilience, people lose teeth for a number of reasons:
- Accidental trauma
- Gum disease
- Failed root canals
- Medications and illnesses
- Hereditary reasons
Whatever your reason, whatever your story, Dr. Bonk is here to listen and offer you hope in getting your smile back with help from dental implants.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Many people opt for dentures or bridges to replace missing teeth, but implants offer many benefits over these procedures. Dental implants look just like natural teeth and provide improved appearance and speech, as well as comfort and durability — all while greatly improving your overall oral health.
How are dental implants placed?
The procedure for dental implants takes place in two parts. First, Dr. Bonk enlists the help of an oral surgeon to place a titanium post into the gum to serve as an anchor. It takes from three to six months for the surrounding bone to grow around the anchors (called osseointegration) and for your gums to heal before the restorative crown can be placed. Meanwhile, you may need to wear a temporary tooth replacement.
While dental implants are an investment, they are one of the most successful procedures because they strengthen the area and do not affect surrounding healthy teeth. If you continue regular dental visits and maintain good dental health, implants can be a lifelong solution.
Dr. Bonk has performed a wide range of dental implant services, including bone grafting when needed, overdentures, all-on-4 implants, and affordable 2-implant lowers that can cut the cost by nearly half.
