Barrington Implant Overdentures
The most common complaints people have about wearing dentures are that they move or slip around, cause speaking and eating problems, or embarrassingly fall out. Implant overdentures are a great solution to all these problems and they are more stable and comfortable.
Dr. Bonk can place a minimum of two implants (also know as affordable dental implants) toward the front of your jaw for your dentures to snap on to. Of course, the more implants you can have placed, the more secure your dentures will be.
Another long-term advantage implants have over dentures is that they prevent facial collapse. When teeth are missing, the body naturally tells itself that it no longer needs the jawbone and begins to resorb the tissue and minerals to use in other parts of the body. The process happens over a period 10-20 years, so many people don’t even notice it until it is too late and their face and jaw begin to look “sunken in” or shriveled up. At this stage of facial collapse, it is virtually impossible for the jaw to even support a denture and the only options a person might have would be to have expensive reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Bonk is recognized for his expertise in restorative dentistry. He holds faculty appointments at both the Spear Institute in Arizona and the Pankey Center in Florida, where he teaches other dentists these techniques.
