Barrington Porcelain Veneers
These days, there are many people who want to improve their smile and have beautiful, straight, and glistening teeth. We invite you to check out our smile gallery to see a sampling of radiant smiles that Dr. Bonk has created with porcelain veneers.
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored material designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve appearance. Dr. Bonk specializes in crafting custom veneers to address a variety of issues, including:
- Teeth that are discolored — from root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline, other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes; or the presence of large resin fillings that have absorbed stains
- Teeth that are worn down or flat
- Teeth that are chipped or broken
- Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped
- Teeth with gaps between them
How are porcelain veneers placed?
Porcelain veneers are approximately 0.5 mm thick. The tooth is shaved ever-so-slightly to accommodate the thickness of the veneer, and once it is bonded in place, the fit will be seamless.
To begin the process, Dr. Bonk works with you to create a smile design. Your consultation might include a combination of photographs, x-rays and digital simulation. Then, Dr. Bonk will create a wax mock-up for you to examine and approve. Next, he will prepare you teeth and take an impression before placing the provisional and sending you home to “try on” for about a week. During this time, Dr. Bonk will engage his master ceramists in the process of creating your custom porcelain veneers.
At your next appointment, the provisionals will be removed and you will have a chance to try on your beautiful, new porcelain veneers. If you are satisfied with the look, color and feel, Dr. Bonk will permanently bond them to your teeth and you will leave the office with that perfect smile you have always wanted.
Dr. Bonk is an artist and he believes that continuing education is key and that new skills must be learned and mastered in order to provide high-quality cosmetic dental care to his patients in Barrington and the surrounding area. As an Advisory Board member and member of the faculty at Pankey Institute as well as a visiting faculty member at Spear, he teaches his techniques to other dentists, so you can be assured the best dental care available.
